The Philosophy - the objective of Discovery School House is to create a safe, healthy and positive atmosphere for your child to learn and grow. Our main goals are to create situations that help build self esteem, encourage creative thinking and develop social interaction.
Gigueres is excited to offer one of the best day care and nursery school programs anywhere. First, instructed gymnastics is included in the program. Gymnastics is by far the best gross motor activity for preschoolers. Second, the curriculum will involve activities which teach responsibility and leadership skills, provide an education through hands-on "fun" experiences and create an appreciation of the environment. Third, we moved into a brand new facility in 2002!
Discovery has a positive attitude toward staff employment and the caring for children regardless of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, marital status or disability.
Discovery School House Director - Mary-Jo Valois
Mary-Jo has worked with children for over 20 years. She spent 10 years as the director of Christopher Robin Nursery School in Rochdale, Mary-Jo's love for children and quiet nature is why Discovery School House is one of the best day child care and nursery school programs in Worcester County.

Joins National Movement to Improve Early Childhood Education
Cherry Valley, MA- Discovery School House has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children – the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals.
“We’re proud to be accredited by NAEYC, and recognized for our commitment to reaching the highest professional standards,” said Mary-Jo Valois Director of Discovery School House, which is owned and operated by Giguere’s at 148 Main Street. “NAEYC Accreditation lets families in our community know that children in our program are getting the best care and early learning experiences.” Discovery services children 2 years 9 months through 7 years old with full and part time care offered in a brand new state of the art building. Instructed gymnastics is included in the program as well as swimming lessons in the outdoor pool in the summer.
In the 20 years since NAEYC Accreditation was established, it has become a widely recognized sign of high quality in early education programs. More than 10,000 programs-serving over 850,000 young children- are currently accredited by NAEYC. “In recent years, we’ve seen a growing number of child care and preschool programs earning NAEYC Accreditation,” said Mark Ginsburg, Ph.D., executive director of NAEYC. “By earning accreditation, Discovery School House has become a leader in a national effort to raise the quality of early childhood education, and to help give all children a better start.”
NAEYC created its accreditation program in 1985 to set professional standards for early childhood education, and to help families identify high-quality child care and early education programs. To earn NAEYC’s accreditation, a program conducts a self-study to determine how well it meets the standards. After necessary improvements are made, the program is observed by independent, professional validators, and then reviewed by a national panel. Programs are accredited by NAEYC for a five-year period.
The Kids' Club is a unique and affordable after school program for children in grades K-6. This program runs from 2:30p.m. until 6:00p.m. Monday through Friday. If your child attends the Leicester Public schools they can be bussed directly to Gigueres. Please visit the Kids' Club under Child Care for more information.
If your child needs after school care - Then the Kids' Club at Gigueres is the place for you ! The cost is only $19 a Day! Students coming full time Monday through Friday get an additional instructed 1 hour gymnastics, karate, cheering or dance class at no charge! That is a saving of almost $10 per week!
